G'day, no idea of technical terms so laymans would be great hahaha. The motor underneath my drivers seat (VX Exec II) has been rattled out of place from too many 4WD tracks (I know, I know).
Having a look I can see that there's a large bolt which has come out of some blue plastic thing and both components are now wedged in the carpet and the chair can't be moved backwards/forwards on the runners because it's all jammed. I can take a photo if what I'm saying doesn't make sense.
Initially when it happened the whole chair was rocking (not on the runners, just by itself presumably because the motorised tilt wasn't able to work) but it's stable now and has been fine so I didn't bother doing anything about it. Today though I was vacuuming her out and absentmindedly moved the chair all the way back on the runners... DING DING DING can't move it back again. I haven't got a hope in hell of driving her with the chair back so far - I'm a 5'7 female, so unless anyone wants to lend me some stilts...?
Just after suggestions or if anyone else has had this problem. I don't know too much about cars but I'm pretty handy and have a toolbox so if it's something simple I'm sure I could manage!
Cheers!
ETA: Just having a look through the common faults and pretty sure this is the problem:
Front Seat Height Adjuster - The seat height adjuster may become inoperative, which can be caused by the electric motor adjusting shaft separating from the plastic mechanism adjuster nut. A new seat base assembly was introduced early 2003, which featured a metal mechanism adjuster nut.
That's all it says though, no indication of how to fix it or whether fixing is possible? From a logistics POV looking at it, it would seem that if the parts could be dislodged from the carpet the bolt should just slot back into the plastic bit and hey presto?

Hi, this happened to me a while ago. It was a small problem for the vx's since they used the plastic connectors (the part that broke). Holden released a metal version to reduce the problem in the vy's
To fix this, you need to replace the blue plastic bit.
To get a replacement i went to a wrecker and asked if i could take any of the unwanted vy seats (some of the exec seats) that would most likely be going to the tip.
Since Holden nor do wreckers sell the part by itself. You need to remove it from the seat yourself.
Its a long task, bit of filing and pulling stuff out but its not hard.
The drivers seat will need to be removed (disconnect the battery).
Ill write a more detailed instruction when i finish work but that's how i fixed it.

i have the exact same problem, went to a wreckers and picked up a front seat rail setup with the metal connnectors. Its probably the best option to replace them as i had the problem fixed before and they will eventually pop again if you stick to the plastic
