    Cool Daves VX History!

Hey all, I can't say I'm new to the forum at all really :P I just struggle to find a lot of time outside of work and weekend commitments :P

So any ways I had better explain myself and the tittle for "Daves VX History",
It all started back in late about August 2009, when I became the proud owner of a 01 S2 VX Acclaim.
I bought it for a cool price of 5.6k in perfect condition with 190,000kms and full service history.
And well the next bit I'm not too proud of... but me being the typical P plater with a Commodore, I lowered it and took the hubcaps off... My face still hurts from palming it...

I had this car longer than any other car I had... which wasn't very long at all hehe! I sold it mid to late 2010 with 221,000kms on it, for 7.5k to a public servant that didn't even take it for a drive before buying it :P
Never had any issues with that car just serviced it and drove it basically!

Any who I thought I should man up and get a V8, but being a 2nd year apprentice never leaves the wallet feeling very heavy... Never the less I had my heart set on upgrading everything I possibly could, including 2 more cylinders on the engine
After months of looking at taking heaps of different Calais, Berlinas, clubsports, and SS's for drives I finally found THE ONE

I had bought a 01 S2 VX SS Manual, with leather full exforce 2.5" exhaust sytem and 140,000kms for $12,000. It became an instant hit in my life, socially and personally. I loved the power and the sound, and just the general feel. My two brothers are ex hoons (have families now) so naturally it became a hit with them!

    Daves VX History!-black-ss-side.jpgDaves VX History!-black-ss-leather.jpgDaves VX History!-black-ss-garage.jpgDaves VX History!-black-ss-engine.jpg

So after tinting the tail lights a little bit and lowering it a touch, I started all the things that matter, changed all the bushes in the car myself with nolathane, replaced all the fluids myself, new tyres, bigger brakes. After doing a wheel alignment at work one after noon in mid Febuary I was loving life with the car, everything had sorted itself out with the car and it was 100%.
I was driving home from work one afternoon and was waiting to pull into my driveway. Stopped and indicating right. Keep in mind the speed limit on my street is 50, a guy in an 06 rodeo was speeding going approx 80 and was texting his girlfriend. Ran straight up the back of my car, he span me 180 degrees into on coming traffic, the damage report, wrote his car off, wrote my car off and broke my back. He was NOT insured either which added to it all.

    Daves VX History!-crash-back.jpgDaves VX History!-tow-truck.jpg

After being in hospital for a week, I was finally out. My boss didn't want me back at work but I'm not one for sitting around doing nothing, so I offered to work in customer service for a few months.
I got paid 16 grand for my car, I bought back the black SS for 2 grand because I wanted a heap of parts off it.
After all of the crap with the black SS I failed to give up. I got it towed into my garage, so I could begin stripping. Never thought it'd be so hard stripping a car when you can't turn your head :P

Once I had finished stripping the interrior, wheels, brakes, suspension and panels, all that was left was the Engine and drive train, which I sold to a young guy that wanted it for his HZ for 3 grand.

The search for a replacement started all over again, this time I was not going to mess around at all, and buy the best I could and still have a bit of money left over.
I had a look at a few Commodores VY's VX's mostly and none really tickled my fancy, until I called a bloke just outside of Sydney, he seemed really genuine. He was starting off his engineer career so he didn't spare any money in keeping his car in tip top shape!
I went up and had a look and fell in love with it, it was just right!
So I ended up buying it! Yet another VX SS, this time it was 2002 and WHITE !
It did not have leather, but did have 30,000 less kms and was in far better condition. Still manual.
I didn't realise until a few weeks after buying that it was a BC1 ex high way cop car... oh well :P

I had the car back one night and changed the wheels over with a genuine set of VX GTO 18" and changed the interior with my red leather out of the black SS!

    Daves VX History!-vx-ss-white-stock-inside.jpgDaves VX History!-vx-ss-red-leather-.jpgDaves VX History!-white-vx-ss-stock.jpgDaves VX History!-white-vx-ss-gto-wheels.jpg

After doing the typical change of all fluids ect ect, I got bored with the car... Sound, height and sound system wize. So I went about changing all the door speakers to Polk audio splits, cost me about 350 a pair. Then installed a polk sub with a pioneer 760watt 2 channel amp. And a kenwood DVD player head unit. All the audio came together nicely and sounds great!
The car was sitting on FE2 front springs and king spring SLHD rears... which are between lows and superlow. So I changed the front to SLHD and the rear to just regular superlows. I also changed the struts and shocks. Upgraded the link pins and strut tops.
Also while I was out shopping I bought an Xforce 3" catback two 3" 100 cell cats and some pacemaker headers. Also bought some DBA 4000's Upgraded spark plug leads, new coil packs K&N air filter.

    Daves VX History!-white-vx-ss-engine.jpg

Loving the sound of the car now, extremely loud but very throaty! (will make a video if people want!), Bought an OTR intake, 1.8 roller rockers and am booked in for a maffless tune next week.
Last but not least the latest things I've changed on the car.
I got a bit sick of the SS wing on it, so I looked into a VX senator wing $400 bucks later painted here it is!!

    Daves VX History!-313452_2288327219921_1601182341_32262217_2097855843_n.jpg

I love the look of the wing, I think it gives it a hint of monaro but still looks a lot sleeker than the giant SS wing.
The last thing changed on this car to date are the rims, I invested in a brand new set of 20 inch Advanti Guantlets with brand new tyres.

    Daves VX History!-20s-rear.jpg

Last two pics were taken outside of old parliament house during cruise for heart kids!

Well I will try to keep you all up to date with mods and news but that's long history of Dave's VX's (for now) Hope you all enjoy!

LOL @ audience. Ya gotta update more.

I like it. Ride height is perfect and that spoiler sets it off.
I have i think a Calais spoiler, was looking at a Manta spoiler but the senator spoiler is very similar. Still undecided to keep it. For now does things fine
I like the suttle look, not the in ya face flashy high spoilers.

    Supercharger aye? LOLOL wow

    Thanks for the reply mate!
Yeah i'm pretty fail with updating :P just thought I might as well bulk update ,

I know exactly what you mean about the spoilers, I originally was going to go no wing, but too many P platers do that, so senator spoiler it is!
Also jake at jakes performance in canberra is hooking me up with a cam to go with the supercharger !

    Thanks guys!!!
I don't know for sure but with the gear in it not including charger and cam it would be anywhere between 220 and 240rwkw! After charger Jakes rated it at about 390 - 410rwkw.
