My 02 VX Calais supercharged v6 has been intermittently losing power for about 2 seconds and the ABS, low traction and traction off lights flash up at the same time it then drives fine again, this under normal driving with no loss of traction.
Also when coasting being an auto the revs drop to about 1000 then it hunt between that and about 1250.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything to try before taking to the mechanic?
Could be a bad earth if your dash is doing that, other than that power loss could be the knock sensors pulling timing on you. Check your earth leads. What fuel you using?
I only use vortex 98 but I will check the earths
Or even get a thick wire run it from battery negative terminal on battery to a point on motor go for a drive see what happens. Make sure the wire is decent thickness though as it will burn out if too thin.
Ok I'll try that, the loss of power is only once a week or so but the hunting is all the time when coasting
I would be checking the engine codes and condition of battery terminals, if you need it scanned pm me
I had to take it to Holden over Christmas as the engine light started coming on and the gearbox was holding onto gears longer than it should have been and they came back with a faulty TPS so I replaced this myself as they wanted $264. This stopped the engine light from coming on and haven't had any more problems with it holding gears but it is still losing power momentarily here and there, sometimes with the traction low/off and ABS lights sometimes not. Holden say there were no other faults on the computer.
ABS module might be on the way out.
Clean MAF sensor (dirty maf is a niggling cause of so many small problems).
Try taking the positive lead off the battery and press the brake pedal for about a minute, should reset the computer.
Drive around a bit and then check for error codes again.
Super 6's hunt when coasting. It's called lean cruise I believe.
it's the ABS module!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and the only BP servo for me is 20min out of my way (BUGGER)
