Default head gasket quote or just get a new engine put in?

long story short i let my girls mum have my old vt for about 3 months and i got it back and it was overheating and carrying on like a ####witt..i looked under the hood
opened the oil cap and it was milky ( usually means headgaskets on its way ) now i was not happy but i need it fixed due to the fact i cant afford to be driving a v8 to work and back everyday so i was wandering if any1 could give me rough prices for a new headgasket to be put on or should i just get a new engine ( 1,500 for a engine with 130k on the clock)

any help would be much apprectiated

got myself a quote from a mechanic ( family friend ) said 1100 if both heads are ####ed, or 600 if 1 is ####ed, but he said if it was driving without coolant ( not sure if it was or not ) it could be warped and if its not warped apparently the engine will start to make a " Knocking " noise after a few thousand k's.

but he said he will do new engine replacment etc for 1150 for an engine with 120k-150k on it opposed to my current 197k's sounds tempting
