    Default Air compressor dead :(

    Hiyas.

Aircon died, so went and got it regassed, only for it to die again a week later. Second diagnosis was that the air compressor in knackered and leaking.

Been quoted 600 + regas to fix. Is is possible/hard to DIY? Cheaper to get a compressor from eBay and supply it to them?

Also where would people reccomend in perth? Note that the place I had it done will not charge me for the re-gas as I've already paid for it once.

Struggling student so would like to do it myself if its not that difficult!

I thought as much. I cant find a how-to on this anywhere. I've got a Gregory's at home ill see if its in there...

I'll probably grab one off ebay to be honest, just so i know its okay and can sell the car claiming that its new. Half hour job? Sounds dooable.

    They charged 170 for the re-gas :[

Anyone got a quick guide for this? The Gregorys is good as a guide but not very detailed.

    Hey

Take a look at this scottykilmer's Channel - YouTube

Mine has gone too but mine is worse due too it being a 5 Litre (cost wise)

Looks like the ebay price is around 555, so it may be worth just getting them to do it.

If you can get it done for around $600, pay the money to get it done. Had mine replaced new, all up including labour $1048. It's gets expensive out here, but saves sweating your ass off.

First place I took it to wanted to replace everthing including valves in behind dash. Quoted $3500!! and that was if there was no problems.

The compressor is not hard to replace, but you still have to get it gassed anyway.
