engine light vx ss

I've got a vx ss auto done 150 on the clock got full trans service cause engine light was coming on so I thought I would get that done but still comes in only reason I thought it was the trans was in the manual it says that It is either trans or electrical there is no difference when driving it just wondering if this is the case with others and if so did anyone fix it? The only was I turn the light off is, turn the car off turn then to the on position then do I again then turn the car back on whilst driving that the only way it goes away

Take it to mechanic to check what codes it throwing up could just b a sensor I have same car engine light came on a couple weeks back found out it was my knock sensors

Do they just hook it up the the computer or something? How much was it for a knock sensor and were is it? Can I do it at home? I do most of my mechanical stuff my self eg water pump alternator and services etc is it hard to do ur self or do I need a mechanic to do it?

Yeah they just plug scanner into computer and bang tells them prob there and then,, and yes knock sensor is easy fix at home just take of inlet manifold and there under there,, u have to be careful of wire loom get fragile from the heat sensors around 100 each depending where u get them from

There 2 knock sensors in ls1 best to just change both if that's the prob
