All right lets see if I can explain this properly,
I installed a new headunit in my VT a while back, the install went great the only thing that bugged me was that now I cant manually alter the height of my antenna as the old switch is incorporated into the factory Eurovox unit. and my new unit doesn't differentiate between the radio or CD/USB so the aerial is fully up all the time.
Then for no apparant reason I went back to the wiring chart that I found on the forums here: http://www.justcommodores.com.au/temp/wiring.htm
and I noticed that it has a wire for antenna up and down,
Does anyone know if these just need to be connected to a ground to complete the circuit so I could in theory install a secondary switch somewhere else or does it only work through the Eurovox unit?
Cheers guys and gals.
Also keen to know this, I listen to the radio bugger all and would love a small switch somewhere to control it when I want it up,
Would it be as you said one to earth completes circuit and then a limit switch to cut when it get to top and visa versa?

Figured I'd give this a bump just in case, gonna try it myself tomorrow if I don't get a definite answer, Will report back on any conclusions
Hmmm Strange that it just goes straight up soon as the unit is on. My Sony Head Unit, aerial Only goes up when the Radio is turned on, when on CD it goes down, Must just be the head unit its self. Did you just use a wiring harness or just you cut and join the old fashion way ? i used a wiring harness for both a VY & VX
Some headunits have a seprate wire for an elec ant, like the remote wire for an amp. So when you put the radio on the wire becomes live and the areal goes up and when u go to cd the areal goes down.
Other headunits like pioneer you have to just use the blue amp remore wire to power the ant.
Im pretty sure ummm If you run the ant wire thrugh a swich then on to a acc wire it sould work?
Swich on antenna goes up, swich off antenna goes down..
Maby the stock headunit just pulses power on and off to the areal as u push either up or down...
UP button power is live to ant, Down button power is cut...
Thats if the areal has Like 3 wires, 1neg, 1pos(assume hooked to acc) and 1 remote to headunit....
Iv never really looked into it but i would assume that is how it would work, as far as i have seen...
I do know that the antenna wire on headunits is Positive...
i plan on doing this on my after market unit as it annoys me that when i have it off it power the ant when reversing switches on for the camera
i'm going to use that useless button for the rear windows as holden doubled wired them which is why they get slow
anyway the power ant has 3 wires black - red + and white which is switched to 12v , when powered ant goes up when removed goes down, so if you want a simple up/down method just cut the white wire and install a switch
