Default Kilometres on replacement instrument cluster

I'm considering changing the instrument panel on my 2002 VX2 Exec. wagon from the present single window cluster and replacing it with a triple window cluster.

Now, if I did this, would (a) all the additional functions of the triple window work and (b) what kilometres would be shown after installation?

That is, would the replacement cluster display the actual kilometres the vehicle has travelled (i.e. the same as the original cluster) or the distance the replacement cluster displayed prior to installation?

    Thanks.

It will have what ever kms are on the cluster diaplayed.

You will need to get the cluster programmed to suit your car - air bags, climate, tranny, engine, diff and wheels/tyres.

Some may be able to reset the kms - most will not.

i dont think it can be done with the VX mate, to change the KM's on the cluster it needs to have a white background not black.

but im not 100% sure but ask someone with a tech2 tool.

All functions will work, except for the gear selection lights. For those to work you will need to get a small loom that plugs into a plug near your gear selector and goes somewhere into the engine bay (I have not figured out where yet, and cant be bothered).

As for the KMS, the new cluster will show whatever the previous car had. It can be changed by some people. There is a mob in Canbberra that can (so they say) do it, but they require proof of what you want to change it to - like the old cluster, the previous pink slips showing the general milage done each year, etc. Basically they want proof that your mother existed!!!

Much too much bother. So I am just swapping the old cluster back every time I go for a pink slip.
    Cheers,
