Default Dextron IIE or Dextron 3?

Just replaced my radiator and water pump on my VT 5.0. Lost a lot of trans fluid from the cooler and need to top up a lot of trans fluid as it hardly
registers on the dipstick. I have a bottle of Dextron II E on hand but no Dex 3 which the manual calls for. It's Sunday and I need the car.
Does anyone know for absolutely, positively sure if substituting the II E for the Dex. 3 will harm the trans?

    Default Good article.

I just found the article below which is really informative. After I topped up the trans. oil I was going to take her in and have a local garage, not a
Holden workshop change the trans oil,but after reading how carefully this has to be done made me think that maybe I will pump the trans oil out
through the fill tube and fill it with new Dextron 3 myself.
I have used this method for years when I overfilled and it's quite easy and it also has been discussed on this forum.
In the meantime I guess I will mix the Dex. IIE and Dex. 3 until I can buy enough Dex 3 for the refill job.
