automatic transmission cant make up its mind shifting it keeps upshifting the downshifting while cruising its especially worse going uphill im getting abs error code's 21 and 23 (rhf speed sensor) i dont know if they are related

Id say...not 100% sure but yeh id say it would be related...No harm in changing the speed sensor though!
Also check your fluid, That will make the gearbox do strange things...
Vt Vx use electronic kick down, Not like the old style kick down cables!, So it may use the speed sensor to figure out what to do...

yep I was doing 70kph it sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem

I had the same problem do a trans service kit and fresh oil It will be alot happier

+1 on this. Service the gearboxbox mate. Memcal wont fix the problem if the fluid has turned to muck.

Will too much trans fluid cause any issues such as described above?

I have the same issue in my VX wagon. it " flares" around 60km and also sometimes sitting at red lights it goes a wee bit silly aswell. ALso noticed that afew times driving home from eildon yesterday i would accelrate slightly and it seemed to drop down 2 gears and nearly redline ?????
I thought it might be a shift solenoid or something as i did a trans service kit about a month ago ? ......

Sometimes my auto takes off in 2nd gear & not in 1st. It doesn't matter if i select it to 1 manually or if it's in D.

then if i gun it hard it may or may not drop back into 1st

You can try a service, but in reality, this is a common fault with the gearbox. You'll find some people mention it alot, others don't have the problem. Go figure.

Pay attention to how much accelerator you use and where it shifts, you can sort of make it do what you want after a while.

It's just been put back on after it got a stage II shift kit installed & some extra bands as well as HD bands too.
