Hey guys I have to put a new water pump on my VT but I have ran out of gasket goo(That blue stuff) and I have Form a gasket(that black stuff) will that work to put on the gasket? or is that 2 dodgy
Thanks Doug
On the occasions that I have changed a water pump I simply used the gasket only, no leaks.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I personally always use blue goo....No leaks yet! but have never not used it....but i'd say it should be OK..
cool thanks guys
if its the the black goo in a orange tube is fairly runny and makes a mess and does not always seal take ages for it to set i always use the blue goo
I use the blue Permatex silicone, no leaks. Personally I wouldn't put it on dry.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I always use Loctite 515 for water pumps, thermostat housings, etc. Never had a problem and I plan to keep on using it.
Holden (or whoever makes the Colorado) also uses it from factory to seal the front wheel hubs instead of a gasket.
