I have a vt acclaim 1998 model and at very low speeds i can hear a creaking sound coming from the frontend somewhere. i did think it was my brakes as it does happen when the car is just rolling and i hit the brakes but after reading a few other threads im starting to think it may be the suspension. It does happen when i turn corners at very low speeds or if im just rolling in drive and i hit the brakes on and off i can hear it as well, reversing out of driveways or parks i hear the sound as well, its like a creaking/clunk noise, more like a creak though, it is very annoying. Apparently there isnt anything wrong with the brakes so does everybody think it sounds like it could be the suspension? Maybe if i upgraded the bushes and rods it should do the trick?
take it to your nearest pedders, they will do those test things and should be able to advise and its cheap
I had a similar thing with my CV8. It was the rubbers on the sway bar link pins. Check if they are worn. They are cheap and easy to put in. Apparently it is a pretty common fault.

Yeah my car does this, i assume it one of the bushes in the suspension.

its weird driving home tonight from work i just cant pinpoint it, even sounds like its coming from the actual brake pedal itself sometimes, and come to think of it its probably more of a "tinny" clunking sound rather then a creak, does this change anybodys opinion? and im actually thinking it doesnt make the noise when turning but it definately does when your reversing and you are kind of touching the brake, or when im just rolling forward and touching the brake or if you up a driveway. everything all points to something about when your slowing down the vehicle at very low speeds when you are sort of riding the brake abit on and off, grr very frustrating
