    Default VT sway bar links

    Hi guys,

I have followed the instructions of the forum threads to replace my VT sway bar links and bushes. For some reason I cant get the bushes to sit flush with the swaybar end (which is on an angle). Is this possibly because I tightened them too much before putting the car down?

PS I am using the newer style links with the Z shape. I have positioned the lower kink/bend in the link (the part in the bend that sticks out) towards the back of the car. Are the links symetrical (ie. there is no specific end that should be used for the top or bottom)? Below is a picture of the link in position.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

In the picture, you have the washers upside down.

The washers should form a cup over the bush.

The swaybar seems to be angled slightly upwards.

I should have mentioned that I only jacked up that one side and did not turn the steering wheel either (wheels facing straight ahead). The other side was not loosened at all. Could this be why? I think that when I removed the old link rod the swaybar may have moved from memory.

When I went to install the other link I realised that the new link rod had no thread on one end (manufacturing fault). A new set is in the mail. Is there also any problem with having two different types of swaybar links on the car for the time being (one being the heavy duty z type and the other OEM)?

Was the picture taken with both wheels on the ground?

Tighten the nut when the car is on the ground and wheels pointing straight.

Picture was taken with the wheels jacked up. So I thought it might sit better when lowered but it is the same.

Will jack it up tonight and loosen them up and try again. Which nut should be tightened first top or bottom, or doesn't it matter? I think I tightened too much whilst before lowering.

Looks like the sway bar is bent slighty. One side is pointing up more than the other. Ive also noticed that swaybar is running mighty close to the other car that runs from the castor bushes to the wheel. There is only a few mm separation. Is this possible due to the otherside swaybar link not being loosened?
