    Default MAF Sensor cleaning

Hey, have replaced my air filter today so tomorrow i want to clean the MAF going to go out and buy some crc maf cleaner, anyway do i just unscrew/unbolt it and give it a good spray all over and inside of it then let it sit to dry for a while? also i have read there is a part on it you shouldnt touch or you will need a new one what part do i not touch? does this just mean i dont touch it with my hands and not spray it at all either? also i read you give your intake air temperature sensor a squirt while your there too thats just the wires sticking into the rear of the air box yeah?
    cheers

Un plug your negative battery terminal. Unplug your maf. Undo the 2 clamps holding it to your intake (with the airbox lid undone is easiest) take msg out gently. the sensor is located on the inside of it. With crc Mac cleaner, spray generously around the inside. If yours has the honeycomb spray from throttle body side first as there will be bugs and grime stuck to the honeycomb and don't want it on the sensor. Then spray all connections on it. the plug you take off in first step I usually unplug that too and give all connections a good spray. And with air filter out spray air temp sensor. Leave maf sensor in a dry well ventilated area and leave dry. Shake cleaner out of plug connections. and leave dry. good idea to do your throttle body too while you have the intake apart and clean your iac as this gets a fair bit of carbon build up.

Ok cleaned maf sensor, IAT and connections. Throttle body had lots of black stuff, squirted quite a bit of cleaner on it didnt worry about the IAC valve because im not sure where it is. Also when taking off the engine cover there is quite a bit of dirt and dust on it, not sure of the best way to remove it all?

Degreaser and a hose should clean it up a bit

Good idea to read the How-To on throttle body and inlet manifold cleaning. May as well go the whole hog, there will be a lot of crap in inlet m'fold.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

On the throttle body there are 2 sensors. Left side is the TPS the other is IAC. Undo the iac with battery unplugged clean it up side down and check there is movement back and forth in it. Shake the cleaner out and allow to dry.The valve will have carbon build up and sometimes become sticky and won't move. Giving rough idsle and poor fuel economy. Like the maf it controls your fuel to air mixture and worth doing. Clean your throttle body and intake and your away

And if your taking your throttle body off don't forget to plug anything back in lol. there is your 2 sensors and 2 hoses, one in the left side and one in the back. check your gasket is in good order too.
