    Default power issues

Hey guys I own a 2001 vx ss auto.
I have recently started to notice that when I start driving (ussualy about 10 metres)
Tje car seems to want to loose power feels like a jolting motion. But only happens once.
I always let my car warm up properly befofe driving.
Anyone know what this might be. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    David.

Oddly enough the same thing happened to me yesterday for the first time in my VT, Car is at the mechanics at the moment for that and some other things so if the mechanic can pin point it i'll let you know mate. Wasn't sure if maybe I hadn't let the car warm up for long enough? Will keep you updated but if anyone else knows the reason feel free to fill me in as I'd love to save some $$ at the mechanics lol.

Just a thought but give the warming up procedure a miss and just drive it gently until it is up to temp, maybe a spark plug is partially fouling due to idling on a rich mixture for a long period, worth a try to see if it is any different. Modern cars don't need to be warmed up and it is in fact detrimental and not advised these days. I just start my VX SS pop my belt on etc and drive off, but I do drive it gently and keep the revs down until it is up to temp.

That's how I drive mine too though, but thought about warming it up to see if it made a change. Seems to be an intermittent problem which is why it gives me the shits! lol

freshjivin: it would be great to know what your mech says as im in the process of finding a new mech atm.
i usually do let my car warm up so i might give it a miss tonight before work.
it actually got really bad today, it kept on going everytime i put my foot on the accelerator (jolting motion). almost hit a bloody truck because i was focused on it.
im starting to think it might be the plugs. so i might pull them out and have a look at them tomorow or something. will let use know though.
thanks so far will keep use posted.

Car is headed into the mechanic tomorrow as he was fully booked yesterday so i'll let you know as soon as I find out mate. Mine did the same thing, jolting motion when I 1st pulled out the driveway for a few seconds but then is fine once I let it sit for 30secs or so tops. Hasn't done it since Sunday so hoping it's a 1 off thing but will keep you posted. Hope you can figure this one out because when it was happening it was giving me the shits!

I tried not warming the car up on the way to work and it didnt do it at all.
Will see if it does it tonight and tomorow morning.
If it is that the plugs are just drenched in a rich mix would I need to change them over or should they be FINE?
would never think warming up the car could do damage...

on the way home from work the car did the same thing but this time it stalled too. pulled over at the servo and gave it abit of throttle in gear up just above 1000rpm and it kept stalling. had a quick look under the bonnet but couldnt find anything. i ended up disconnecting the battery for about 30 seconds, then started it again and tried giving it some throttle in gear but didnt stall. drove home fine with no worries.
was having a look on the forum and appears that people have tried lots of different things to fix this but with nothing has particularly fixed the problem. might look into a new abs module as that seems to be the one to replace.
is there anything i should be looking at before this? as alot of other people had the problem but not with the ls1's.
really starting to frustrate me and making lose confidence in driving my baby

Sure modern cars don't need to be warmed up.. though its advisable to at least get up to proper operating temperature and get them oils circulating before you try to redline it. I'm curious though.. in what way can letting a car idle for a few minutes be detrimental?

Think I may have found the issue seemed likemy ect sensor(engine coolant temp) was loose pulled it out and plugged it back in idled well and drove fine while the car was warm.
Going to see how it goes after cooling down on the way to work.

It is on the passanger side just to the left of the extractor. Itgoes into the motor but just take out the electrical clip amd make sure its plugged in correctly as the wire was pulling on mine which caused it to half hang out.

Sounds like a similar problem to my VX Berlina (which is why I joined today). Mine is a V8 and has an intermittent issue of sluggishness down low. I pull out of the driveway and its jolting as other members suggested but once I get to a certain speed its fine to the extent I can give it some and it goes like normal. I initially thought it was a missfire but then realised it should affect the whole range not just down low. My check engine light comes on randomly and has since having extractors/high flows etc installed so thought it could be Oxy sensor or coil pack related but never had this issue so I gather it wasn't those.

I have just changed oil, plugs had the injectors professionally cleaned today, new fuel filter done but my wife called saying it's still doing it. Interestingly, I had a new radiator put in not so long ago so maybe I'll check the clips around the engine and check similar to redls1 has done and see if I can see anything. Failing that time for a diagnostic scan. Holden want $150 for it. Does anyone in Sydney (Revesby area) know if anyone else does them for a better price?

Len Voss Automatics checked my codes for $20. It might be worth the 20 minute trip to Leumeah to save $130. Give them a call first (02) 4625 0720

"could" be the abs module, talked to my brother in law today and he said its hard to determine what would be causing it because the abs module doesnt throw fault codes, and the only way of knowing if the module is stuffed is if theres no signal when the tech 2 is hooked up. but most of the time its working ok.

I replaced my abs module due to faults but never had stalling/jumping issue when driving. Just dash lights came on. Maybe not abs module? as expensive to change.
