My 1997 VT stalled today (and yesterday) with the following warning lights remaining on after it stalled (there were no warning lights before it stalled), 1. Battery, 2. Check Power-Train.
I tested the battery and "think" it's ok- not positive.
Any ideas?
I've seen people talking about fault codes, how can these be checked.
Thanks for any advice.
lately the powertrain light has been coming on in my car as well, it usually only stays on for a little while then goes off.
As it turned out I had some water in the fuel tank.
1 Liter of metho, topped up with premium and its running fine again now.
Spoke too soon.
Stalled again today but this time it would'nt restart.
Towed to a service station, await their advice tomorrow.
This is starting to piss me off.
..........it could be the crank angle sensore,,,,,,,i had this kind of prob on my old vl....it would stall and die...it would take ages to get it to start again if at all........( i may be wrong but if it aint at least thats 1 more thing you can x of the list.........cheers and i hope you get it fixed fast and cheap.........kind regard.............tony
We ALL HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON:THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF GRIP
Thanks for the post, but apparently the mechanic said if the crank angle sensor was playing up it would register an error code.
NRMA have suggested the wiring on top of the fuel tank or wiring to the fuel tank may be causing the problem.
It at a service station now, hope to hear some good news soon.
for those interested, it turned out to be the fuel pump, and there was some bad wiring around the fuel pump. All replaced and running well again.
