Here is a weird one. Vt s1 v6 is revving to 2500 on start up. At the lights, it's idling like a pig, missing and shaking. Slight dab to get of the line, then no accelerator, it will speed its self up to about 70k's. Using heaps of fuel. Could it be an o2 sensor or a maf? It threw a fault code for cas, no signal, but when I wrang the mechanic they said if a cas goes, the car won't even start. Totally lost with this car.
Andrew
Do a throttle body service and clean the iac unit they get very clogged up and cause those problems and check for vac leaks on the rear of the manifold
Wh heads came off, all of the intake was cleaned. How do I check for functionality on the tps, Iac and maf? Tps was filthy so all cleaned out now, iac came off but it seemed as if only the body of te switch came off, but there was still a component left in the throttle body.
Did this start when after putting the heads and manifold back on?
if so The symptoms point to a vac leak around the manifold, runners, plenum, or throttle. Check ur iac as illusion mentioned first, is the larger black sensor on the throttle body.
This does nothing, grab a can of crc, and in quick squirts, spray around the manifold, joins in the runners, and around the throttle body. if the revs increase, u've found a leak, note it and then continue checking.
Checked for vacuum leaks then guess what. Egr hose was whistling like a turbo. Taking it to the mechanics tomorrow. Some fwit before me rounded the bolts on both the plenum and the valve. How much are those pipes?
Suggest you replace the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
Unfortunately, no cruise control on my car. As for the tps? Should it throw a code if it's cactus? Might change it anyway even if the mech says its ok. How much is the egr pipe?
the egr hose is a genuine part only and it will cost you about $60/$70 can't remember cause I had to change mine at the start of the year. You can install it yourself it is quite easy. Remove the accelerator cable off the plate, then the two bolts on the plate come off and that is the top of the hose off and its 2 bolts on the bottom if it is rounded weld a nut to the rounded bolts and then remove them like normal.
If its Found On a Rubbish Dump its a FORD if it is Holden On its a Holden. Pick your poison.
i think its the throttle pos sensor does it also die in the ass intermitedly??? id recomend changing it.
