Angry stalling vts v6 mid driving, this is what I've done so far

    help!!!!!
    vts v6 1999 auto
    2x CAS sensors
    1x CAM sensor
    new relays
    new fuses
very clean throttle body and MAF/ACI
    new battery + cables/connections
    all connection checked for looseness
    new fuel filter
car runs cool and only stalls on HOT days, mid driving,NO ERROR codes
today, just installed new petrol pump just for the hell of it, (the old one tested ok) I've only spent all this cash, because I've owned it since new.

    all this in six weeks,sh-t!

it will be sad to see her go, but, if i can't sort out this problem, i'll have too!!!!!!!!

where abouts in melbourne are you?
was there anything you did just prior to all this starting ? ie just got serviced or bought new battery or got new stereo or had to jumpstart
does it stall at cruising speed or accelerating or decelerating or cornering or braking
have you checked oil pressure switch connections
the fuses and relays you replaced are they under bonnet or under steer column or both sets
is it stalling with aircon turned off

    hi

i drive from richmond to reservoir (punt rd and high st) traffic is up the A---ss,
car is serviced twice a year, same mechanic since new (12 years), this came on randomly on a hot day, over a month ago, stalled mid driving 40 to 50 kph, once stopped whilst approaching lights (hot day)' once stalled at the lights, tried with and without A/C, with heater on, but it seems to be only when the days temperature is over 27 deg it has never stalled going to work ,always late in the day??????

she would restart after a minute or so and drive 5-7 kms and stall, if i wait 20-30mins she would go much longer

all fuses changed in and out.

    no error codes shown???

Before it stalls. How is the engine running? Struggling to idle?

Have you checked for error codes?
    Checking error codes VT/VX
    Edit: Ignore that... lol

Check your ignition system. Coil packs, DFI, etc

no sign when she going to stall ,the only indication is keeping one eye on the techo looking at the revs whilst driving, steering goes hard, brakes go hard and roll to a stop,
    every dangerous
i can't drive her in heavy traffic may cause an accident.
DFI and coils replace on the second time she broke down
    NO ERROR CODES RECORDED!!!

Seeing as how you have replaced and or checked nearly everything else, and you mentioned that temperature seems to be playing a part in causing the problem, its probably worth checking, and/or better still, replacing the coolant temperature sensor and the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor. The engine will never run properly and can stall etc if these arent giving the ECU the correct temp readings. If these make no difference, then borrow another ECU and check that yours isnt faulty and causing these problems. Not all problems will set an error code either. Sometimes a crook sensor might be still be giving some sort of signal, but it might be way out from what its suppoosed to be, so it wont always set a code. Oxygen sensors are known for this, they stop working efficiently long before they will set a code to say they are not working.

Sorry you are too far away for me to take a look
do you have access to a timing light and/or multimeter?
do you know how to use them
what i would suggest is throw testers in boot and next hot day give it a bit of caning until it stalls then connect test gear and see what is missing
you should have several minutes before it starts again. you will need a second person to crank engine whilst you test
start with timing light and see if you have spark then use multimeter and check both sides of fuel pump fuse and if you get time other engine type fuses
to test the relays you will need to make a test harness so we will leave that for later

    thanks for advise
if needed i can get hold of a timing light and multimeter, the only problem I'll have is i'm a lone coming back from work, and not very good with electrics
it seems to start after 1 to 2 minutes (maybe not enough time to test?)

i just replaced the fuel pump (the old seemed ok, no burnt connections) but i have driven her for a few hours on Sunday and to work and back Yesterday and to work today
with no break downs(thank fu-k) as you know the next couple days are going to be warm will see how she goes.

    PS/ are you a machanic?

you are going to have to find someone to crank engine for you and hopefully you can get a hot day over Christmas even if it is a weekend (the car doesn't know you're not on the way home from work) give car a bit of a hard time and it should still cut out
