There is a thin line from the firewall near the brake booster that goes to the back of the plenum. Will be easier to check if the engine cover is off. Trace that line til u get to a valve, which then goes to the smallest inlet on the back side of the plenum. There are two similar lines on the firewall, one to the heater tap(has two radiator type hoses coming out of it). If u trace the line to this, just trace the other one. The line is a vacuum line for the vents inside the car.

    CUR53VT,

I just checked MY car to see if this was the answer to my problems, and i've noticed that the hose in question is flat, squashed and all kinds of messed up. Is that hose a specialty hose? Or can I replace it with some hose that is of similar size?

If u followed the line, it's the only one it can be. If its flat and all skanky, sounds like the valve is gone. Go to reco or whatever and get the heater vacuum valve, and replace the small hose that goes from the valve to the plenum as well.
