Default Location of and replacing starter motor

As the thread says I can't find where the starter motor sits, I have tried looking around the area it should be but can't see the bloody thing!

Also are they fairly easy to change? Anyone know what's involved?

    Cheers

    That's probably why I couldn't see it =p

Nothing is in the way? I can just hoist the car up and do it from underneath?

Yep , just make sure you put some stands under the car . You might have to drop the steering rack to get it out . Don't forget to disconnect the battery first .

......where exactly were you looking? If you looked where it should be, how come you didn't see it? Where did you expect to find it?

Should be two bolts going straight up through the starter housing into the bell housing. Easy to remove on one of those

I replaced the starter motor on my V6 many years ago and I'm sure I got it out without undoing the rack or anything else. It was a bit of a tight fit though.

Haha I only had a quick look around the bell housing.. Thought it would be easy to spot. Didn't see it under the n/s exhaust manifold.

I have seen them on other makes of cars and they were more obvious

I found it easier to drop the engine pipes off the manifolds than dropping the rack. But you may get it out without undoing anything else. Just make sure the battery is disconnected first as VTS5 has said.
