    Default ECOTEC Poor Economy

Hey, I recently purchsed a VT S2 and the economy is sh**. Its had a good service so, oil, plugs and lead, and all filters. It does about 17L per 100k's so its no good. It runs nicley but has poor economy even if my right foot is not having a stretch. Cheers...

Check for vacuum leak, oxygen sensor/s and their plugs(they r cheap,i replace them every year) wouldnt hurt if you clean the throttle body.If none of these suggestions helps, replace the whole fuel supply line with its regulator(the one that goes round the plenum and sits on top of the injectors).

Full service, new plugs, new leads, clean throttle body, clean maf, clean intake manifold, clean iac. New Fuel filter, new air filter and injector cleaner use good fuel and keep that foot un stretched and allow the computer to get out of it's loop of being driven hard. check all vac hoses. And exhaust restrictions.

Basically to get started and keep it simple before going the whole 9 yards like CHA53R's post..
The quickest easiest things would be to:
    1. Clean MAF sensor. <<< Search This Term
    2. Buy a bottle of injector cleaner and read the instructions on the bottle.
    3. Change fuel filter. <<< Search This Term. Sounds/looks a lot harder than it is.

Agree with most of the above. Try changing where you buy the fuel from to. I find some fuel gets drastically worse economy than others

Need NOS Harry! 2 of the big ones! Do a bit of googling when it comes to fuel filter. I read alot that people have trouble with the clips and break them! Think by memory it was push towards filter, press clips in and pull. Oh don't forget to pull fuel pump fuse and start her till she stalls.

It's not abnormal for the car to run that type of economy. Unless your driving down the highway and that's the number you get.

Yeah my question is what's your driving highway or city? Even a grandpa in the Sydney CBD is gonna get something like that.

get lean cruise remapped in the memcal might save 0.5L though prob not worth it for the coin.

As well as new O2 sensors grab a new air cleaner element. Are you sure the memcal is standard and hasn't been retuned?

Also in my experience, fuel filer, air filter, o2 sensor, stay away from E10 (regardless of anyone's opinions about how good/bad it is. There is no question, you will get less mileage out of it). And don't rev beyond 2.5k, then let us know.
