when i accelerate the car sounds as if its been starved of fuel or something? i put it flat and it just doesnt want to go it just splutters what could it be?
Check your air intake pipe and sensor because I had a similar problem and when I looked there was a split in the intake pipe. Thar is the only thing i can think of so if that is not the problem then I unfortunately can't help. But if it is, it is as simple as going to your local holden dealer part department and order another or take your chance to find one at the wreckers.
okay ill try that, i was thinking the fuel filter?? possibly?
have you tested your fuel pressure ?
Check under the throttle body for disconnected vacuum hose..
no i havent tested my fuel pressure, ill try those things.
i pulled the air box off and ran it straight through the maf sensor and there was no problem? could it be that the air filter is too thick and that its not getting enough air????
well its a new car to me, the air filter doesnt look too bad?? maybe ill give it a blow out and see how it goes?
okay so i put in a high flow air filter, there are no disconnected vacuum hoses around the throttle body, i ran some injector cleaner through it. and its still doing it? any other thoughts on what it could be? the only other thing that i know that needs to be replaced is the fuel filter could that be the problem??
BUMP reply
If it's a 'new car' to you, best go through the usual service items, like fuel/air filter, spark plugs and more important, plug leads.
Good luck!
Could well be the fuel filter. My Daughters VT was just like that a couple of years ago at 200,000K. Changed the filter and all fixed.
its got all new leads and plugs, the only thing my mechanic said on the last service was that the fuel filter is on its way out, its the only last think i can think of? although someones dad said it happened to one of his cars and the cat was blocked?? i doubt it but could it possibly be that??
Blocked cat very expensive, fuel filter.. not so much lol
Do the fuel filter broooo.
Report back once you have!
Good idea to check the pipe that runs from the EGR valve to the throttle body, easily overlooked and sucks in heaps of air when worn out. It makes the engine run lean and burns out brand new plugs in a day or two. Took me ages to find the culprit. After you fix the pipe install new spark plugs.
alright ill try those, the car is going into tomorrow for a full service ill get him to check it out!! (:
