I Have a vt v6 that wont start. story is took it for a drive down the shops with no problems parked it and did my shopping upon return it wouldnt start, turn key and its just dead so i left it there, went back a few hours later and it started. took it home and next morning wouldnt start. central locking also stopped working so after a new bcm + keyhead central locking works but car was still dead checked the terminals etc all ok. someone said possibly CAS so fitted a new CAS. car turns over every now and then but stalls once it starts. the security light switches of when you roll the key so i dont beleive its the immobiliser any ideas?>?
I connected a jump pack to it and still couldnt get it to start, if it was a stuffed battery why would it stall after starting?
check for codes.
disconect your battery over night then reconnect it this will reset every thing but make sure you have your radio surcurity code
or you cant reset it if that dont work check your coil pack its the big box where your ignition leads go if its stuffed then it wont
start ok
ok did a code check came back code 12 so system OK could it be a starter motor? i have been told by a few people it could be a stuffed solenoid sometimes it engages sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt? just doesnt explain to me why it stalls after it does start
hey, going through the same thing with my daughters vt, about to replace the bcm and just to let u know that once you replace a bcm you have to have it matched to the pcm(powertrain control module- ecu in old terms) otherwise it wont turn off the immobiliser and therefore wont start, everything else will work tho, an auto electrician or holden dealer can do it but i dont think its very cheap, im going to try a bcm/pcm package fom another car to see if that works without having to give holden a small fortune to fix something they have known about for a long time but still produce
regards, chris
well did a starter motor today, car started then died almost like outta fuel but has pressure and fuel so it didnt run out of fuel. weird thing is the key still has a dead spot. sometimes it cranks over other times its just dead no clicks no nothing i am over it already lol
I had a similar problem that was solved by replacing the starter motor relay switch. My first thought was the starter motor, since accessories came on and I didn't get that clicking noise that comes with a flat battery. When I opened the bonnet I noticed the fuse/relay switch box and realised that the high beam relay switch was identical to the starter motor relay switch, so I swapped them over and she started straight away. Cost me around $6.50 to buy another one. Hope that is of some help.
yeah i have done the relay swap and still no luck. rather then reprogram bcm to meet up with old pcm have got hold of the pcm to suit the new bcm so will try that also
