I'd be looking at the BCM going down shit creek.

any way i could test the bcm?
i swapped it out for the one in my ute and it didnt do it but wouldnt start so i guess it has to be a one out of a manual correct? if so where abouts could i find one?
you'll need a bcm that has the same number on it,did you use your ute key on it?the key is programmed in to the bcm, you'll need a key head an bcm.just by one off a wreck with the key.
You will also need to have the BCM and ECU linked before it will start. It's a security thing so you can't just steal a commodore with your own BCM and key.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
how do u get the bcm and the ecu linked?
Thats got to be the weirdest prob i have ever heard of happening ring the former owner and see if he will come clean about whats caused this prob to happen.
been watching this for a while, but looked too complicated to get involved
anyway everyone has had a good laugh but nothing super helpful
do you have factory air or aftermarket?
does it fault when you turn heater fan on or only A/C and fan?
most likely you have a short in a loom somewhere (good luck finding it)
look for modifications to car that may have damaged loom or where someone inexperienced has been
doubt it's a BCM as A/C is controlled by ECU, fan is controlled by BCM
Best way to check the BCM is to buy a complete set (BCM, ECU and key head). You'll need the BCM and ECU to both have the same part numbers and make sure you get one with a key with the right number of buttons.

Hey tmuir, just doing some reading and found an old tech bulletin that deals with your problem
it is caused by a faulty "blower fan speed controller" in vehicles with climate control
i dont think mine has climate control its just 1 2 3 4
Climate controll is digital with lcd screen.

No, he wouldn't have climate control
"Ride: vt executive v6 manual"
If I got a new ecu bcm and key head would I have to get the ones with the same code on them that was in the car originally
