    Default Starter problem re-occurring

    Hi,

1997 VT BERLINA - lights on dash come on when ignition key inserted - try to start it and all I get is a regular clicking sound like the starter motor is trying to fire the engine but nothing happens?
Recent new battery and alternator fitted from previous similar experience

All foot and internal lighting is working suggesting there is nothing wrong with the battery charge......

It is probably the stater motor that needs replacing. Check the connections at the starter motor first.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

The cap comes loose on the solenoid and can cause this. Give it a wiggle and see if it's loose. Also, as accentstencil said, check the connections on the starter to make sure they are tight.

Also check the battery terminals. Mainly negative. Check that they are tight and arnt breaking.
