Hello all, I have a 2001 VX Equipe with what appears to be strange fluid stains on duco. Colour is heron white. I have tried doing it by hand using various substances, including a clay bar, even working up to kitten cutting compound, but made very little headway. Paint is still basically smooth glossy and intact, just has these bloody streaks. I am thinking it needs a full proper buff/paint correction thing; when the detailers reopen in a fortnight's time I might give it to them, see what they can do. Interestingly, the paint on bonnet does not have these streaks; was resprayed in august after a kangaroo strike. Roof is also fluid-mark-free. Marks similar to these are also on the doos, fenders and 3/4 panels.
Thoughts??

i have seen this before when there has been bore water used on a car and dried then causing a stain like this try a good cut and polish and if this does not work you might have to look at re painting
Mine looks the same, though only in a certain light. Tried the usual cutting and polishing bit with no avail, I put it down to the clear top coat starting to rot.
Well, car has been buffed somewhat...took it to a detailer in town that the local holden dealer suggested. For $375 got a full top to bottom inside and out detail that included two attempts at buffing/cutting/polishing. Safe to say that problem is about 90% gone; has largely disappeared on the doors and one side of the car the 1/4 panels too; still there on the bootlid (but bootlid is now 80% clear of defect), patches on LH side 1/4 panels and a patch on the c-pillar. Having spoken to others about this, such paint rectification would always be very difficult (colour especially - the titanium dioxide in white paint apparently makes it harder to polish). Detailer reckons I was lucky; some vehicles with this issue require respraying, particularly if its a solid red non-clearcoat car. Detailer concurs its a bore water stain.
As it stands will leave it for now; defects only visible from certain angles and lighting conditions, and only if they are pointed out/looked for.....which is good because having decided to rechrome the bumpers on the VB I need something for my local club's Australia Day display :P
Problem came back again to a degree...the wax the detailer applied must have worn off. Anyway today had some time to kill; got an old stiff bathtowel, and found some mothers scratch remover (only stuff I recall not trying). Really put the pressure on, really hand-buffed the problem areas like 2-3 minutes per 10x30 cm strip, took a bit of paint off (heron white was coming off onto rag, which when polishing I assume is a good thing) Result? so far the splotches/stains are 95-100% gone, and as of 4 hours later were still gone.
Now; I did that by hand. When the detailer used a buffer what the feck did he use? Wussy bloody polishing wax or something?
