gday guys... My airbag light has been on for some time now....and i recently have been hit in the rear...and my plan was to get the airbag light fixed by insurance...now the insurance chick told me that they are going to check if it is consistent with with accident...my question is...are they able to tell what date the airbag light came on?
they will plug a scan tool in to find the cause of the light being on
as the airbags were not(I assume) deployed they know you are trying to scam them
The light indicates a fault in the system
Ok but how will they know if it happened in the accident or not?
If it was caused by an accident your pre-tensioners and possibly your airbags will be deployed. If they come back with it being a faulty clock spring (most common reason for airbag lights in VT and VX Commodores), they'll know it wasn't caused by an accident.
VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)
Just plead ignorance.
You only noticed the light after the accident. At worst they'll refuse to pay for the hours labour to reset it. But if you do nothing and the pre-tensioners have gone off your up for big money to replace them (I think).
I had a similar thing in my vs when it got broken into. deadlocking didn't work on passenger door, worked on the rest, still don't know why. The smashed the quarter. Wound down the back window and unlocked the front door. Told insurance that they must have "broken" the dead locking.
