Hey there
i have recently swapped my vt ls1 for a vu ute ls1, now my my vt stalls after half a second everytime after ignition.
What could be causing this?
ive been told the computers are interchangable
as far as im aware the wireing is complete
New motor + Boltons
old trans,
old ignition packs
the one thing i know isnt hooked up is a small hose going down to the trans on the right hand side. (vaccum hose i believe)
could this be causeing it to stall?
if not what else?
Thanks for the help, cars been off the road for a bit now, is mad shitty =[ want her going again...
I'm not sure of what you are saying but if you have swapped the computer (ECU) it won't start without being linked to the BCM.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Thanks for the response
i havent changed the ecu/computer, i have been told i didnt need to from vt to vu. just wasnt sure if taht was true or not...
Well to word it better,
vt ls1 = dead. i put in a vu ls1 now stalls.
every part of the car besides the motor and boltons are from the vt
Just need to find out possible solutions =] cheers
my cousons wh stato did this and it turned out to be 1 i wire with a rusty clip im not sure where it was how ever. also my wh did this when i did the gen 3 conversion i needed to send it in and have the ecu and bcm matched
when putting in the motor, all the wires looked clean.
i will check for error codes in the morning, hoping its a cheap fix, has already cost me near 2000 =[
how much did it cost to do that?
thanks mate
The engine will run for about half a second if the immobiliser isn't off. Is the security light in the mode switch flashing when you try to start it.

yea the light is flashing, its an after market immobilzer, but i didnt swap the computer or key or anything, would it still affect it? and not sure if it matters but the stalling time varies, can stall straight away or after a second
sounds like something to do with your imobiliser.. you must have touched a wire or knocked it somewhere
may seem like a stupid question,
but how do i unarm it? normally if its alarmed and you open the door wouldnt it go off?
i was never given a key to the immobilser, are they easy to remove?
The immobiliser and alarm are two different things in a commodore although if you have an aftermarket alarm it might have an immobiliser as well.
The factory immobiliser is disarmed when the ignition is turned on. If it fails to disarm it could be due to a faulty key reader (metal ring around barrel) or the metal knob on the key remote is not touching that metal ring ,or a flat battery in the key remote, or the immobiliser itsellf is stuffed, in which case you will need a replacement BCM and , as stated earlier, it will need to be linked to the ECU.

The First one is my key the other two are are my immobiliser, however after you mentioning it could be my key, forgot two mention its dodgy as shit, the little pin thing wasnt making contact with the metal ring, so i pushed it forward so it made contact, the car started and continued to run,so its off to get a new key made up tommorrow.
Only thing now is when i start it up, the revs start up normally then build gradually by itself and doesnt stop til a few 1000 revs more then normal, are the throttlebodies interchangable aswell? or do i need to adjust the throttle cable? Should i just put the one from the vt back on it? if that is whats wrong with it? ideas?
Cheers for the help everyone
