Looking to get a wh statesman ls1 in near future and was wondering if people have had many issues with them?Apart from motor trans stuff any electrics play up and the like? And lastly whats your consumption like?
Had mine for 5 years now and no major problems apart from the usual suspects, oil pressure sensor, clock spring, PCV hose Y piece, ignition barrel. I have also replaced the radiator 2 and a half years ago with a genuine Holden one and it has just started leaking again, also the water pump has a small leak as well. Both leaks occurred within a day of each other. I've done 260,000 kms so I'm not complaining about the water pump, just the radiator, I expected more from that.
Fuel consumption on the freeway is excellent, late 8-9 L/100kms. City driving consumption is high if you like to put your foot down, I don't really have figures for that.
All in all, nice cars to drive and I'm sure you would be happy with it.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
They are a very nice car, another common problem with VT/VX/WH models is the ABS Module fails. You can still drive the car, but nearly all the dash lights come on, engine light, ABS light, Trac off light, airbag light, low oil light, temp gauge stops working, climate control stops working. It doesn't cost too much to replace, but if it happens at least you know what the problem is.

It has excellent mileage, but as it gets old the key barrel, door lock actuators, windows and window switches needs replacement.
