got a vt series 1 the air bag light has come on because some minger (previous owners passenger) ripped the cable to the pre tensioners out of its socket, got to take the car to the local revenue raising joint to clear a minor revenue raising defect, how ever the dash lights up and makes horrid noises as if the worlds going to end because some pelican bumped a wire.
is there a way to bring up the srs codes and can you reset it by continuously shorting the circuit or do i need to use a tech 2, will the obd 2 scan tools at sprints reset the codes? from what i have heard obd 2 is for vz onwards :?
any help would be tropo
Needs a tech2 to clear it. Take it to your nearest mechanic (one who advertises that they do "log book servicing") get them to clear it. If they're chummy they wont charge you a penny, otherwise they might ask for 20-50 bucks. No big deal
Take the dash out n take the globe out!!
Remove the warning globe? pfff. As if someone would be stupid enough to do that. Well, then again, when I think about it, theres a hell of a lot of stupid people out there. This is one of the reasons theres so many crappy cars about. The little problems just get covered up or ignored etc, then they all just build up until theres a heap of stuff not working right or whatever.. Some people are just too stupid to spend a bit of money on their car when it needs it, to keep everything in good working order.
Go and get your car scanned with a scantool, find out why the light came on and get it fixed abd the SRS code cleared..
well brett you kind of just proved how stupid people are....
i wrote up there i know why it come on, the light appeared as some muppet who previously owned the vehicle some how managed to knock the connector out of the pre tensioner sensor socket...
not to worry folks, holdens quoted 88 to clear the code, holdens copped a mouth full of it, midas morphett vale quoted 45, southern dyno quoted 30, either way i thought "mhe, its only a minor defect sapol wont check my dash" guess what? they didn't, so all good, i will just buy my own tech 2 and clear codes for people for half of what the retailers are![]()
cash man, its not the money, its the fact people are being charged for someone to turn a machine on, turn your ignition on, then turn your car off, its not time consuming, generally the operator stands around talking shit to you and whilst this may be deemed as "polite"im basically paying some one to talk to me, its not a phone sex chat line, i dont want to talk to anyone but if i dont talk then im an arse hole :/ its a catch 22 really.
Australians need cheap rates for basic things
That probably won't work because they often check if it lights up when the ignition is turned on, and when it doesn't they will know that the globe has been removed or doesn't work. At least that is what they did when I last had a rego check. Not to mention the warning tone.

yeah dont get me started on the warning chime, although it only happens a few seconds after start up, my passenger is only my misses so i mean if we crash the horrid noise that constantly comes from her might "go away "![]()
sending aldl command via say flashtool and laptop can clear srs codes on VT, i think it's FA 56 0A A6, i do have a adx here that should work with tunerpro
Somewhere in the large amount of posts about this exact thing in the VT - VX forum should give you an answer, if you put that tiny bit of effort into doing a search.

i did actually do this, if you look down the page you will see a few i dug up, these had wrong info, the only way to clear it is with a scan tool or something alike, there is the possibility of putting in another bcm but whether the srs light runs off this is another question i cannot be bother looking into, i will just get a tech2 or buy an aldl cable for the lappy
What some people arent aware of is that when the SRS light is illuminated the entire airbag system is disarmed. Airbags do save lives so fixing the problem is definately the best course of action. Removing warning globes is retarded.

agreed, i wouldnt remove the light, its a commodore its not capable of getting up to speeds where airbags dont matter hence why my wrx came with out them, air bags hurt like ####!
i asked my snap-on dealer to hook his verus up and clear the error codes, all good for now![]()
That and the fact that DTCs dont tell you the exact issue with the car, they are simply a starting point. The issue could be the wiring harness (open circuit, short to ground, short to voltage), an issue with the module, an issue with the sensor, an issue with the comms network etc etc.
Only fools clear trouble codes without investigating the cause of the issue and send you on your way unless the cause is obvious. Codes appear for a reason.

I look at this way, if the fault reoccurs, then i'll look into it further, sometimes these faults can appear only once, and then once cleared they may not return.
But if it does return, then i'll investigate it.

i had this problem with mine what i did is i took my steering wheel off and behind that there is a round black box which has a wire which is coiled inside mine had snapped off so thats why the light stays on the yellow wire oh do you have a horn? and black or sometimes brown wires as your horn if you dont have a horn then this is your problem go to a wreckker and get another one or pinch apart.
Another common cause of SRS light is when people shampoo the carpets and wet the connecter at the back of the seat rails.
