    Default leak found

I finally found the leak on my wh caprice. It is leaking from the oil sensor located at the back of the engine. Whenever I start the car after it sits for a while, the oil starts leaking from the oil sensor. Today when it started leaking I looked at the oil sensor and it was coming from there. What are my options. Can I clean the old sensor, put some gasket tape and reuse it OR should I buy a new sensor. The car is also giving code for oil sensor. New oil sensor is 37 dollars.

Yeah!..when those oil pressure sensors leak, they must be replaced. There is no fixing them!

Depends where it is leaking from, if it is from the thread where it screws into the engine then I don't think a new one is necessary. I would remove it, clean it and apply some loctite or something similar to the thread (not thread tape).
Edit. I just read the rest of you post in which you say it's giving you codes, so definitely replace it. The new one should alreadyhave the stuff on the thread to seal it.
You will need an extra deep socket to remove it or you can buy a special socket for the job. They are a pain to get at.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
