Default VX Interior Dome Light - totally stumped

I replaced my interior dome globe with a brand new 12V 39mm festoon green LED bulb, worked fine.
Within half a day though, it doesnt light up (whether on the "door" or "on" setting), and whats worse, neither does my boot light?
Definitely not a coincidence as they both worked fine up until the same point in time.
How are these 2 globes linked, and why have they both stuffed up? Any help would be good, as well as the location for the interior dome light ground point.
    Thanks

It's easy to short the boot light on the body when replacing the fixture.

It might be only a 12 volt globe, but what amperage is it pulling?

Which fixture is this? I popped the boot light casing open to replace that globe too, then got distracted by something else, then realised it had blown. Connected incidents?

@Old Timer, I swear i double-checked the amperage and voltage, thats why im so confused... What number is the interior illumination fuse?

By fixture I meant boot light casing. I racked my brain for some time thinking of what to call it. Boot light casing is better.

its coz u had the boot open so there was current flowing through the sytem wen u fitted the globe causing a spiike that was 2 high 4 ur fuse 2 handle so it blew. u should always replace globes wen there is no power so disconnect the wires 1st if u have 2.

Does ur ignition ring light work or has that gone out 2?

I dont think i had the interior light on though...and besides, how did fitting a globe increase current by such an amount that it blew the fuse? Confusing.
The ignition ring light has gone out too, so its definitely the interior illumination fuse, just lost as to how. Ive opened my boot with the interior light on before, just never removed and then re-fitted the boot globe while the interior light was on. Grrr

is a LED bulb polarity sensitive?
    i know LED's are
    sounds like a dodgy bulb
just paint your original bulb with glass paint next time

mayb u did and didnt realise? and thats y ur ignition ring isnt working as its on the same circuit, coz wen we change over the ignition ring globes over and the interior light globes they must b turned off or that fuse will blow. wen u make contact with the globe still on it arc,s u may or may not b able 2 hear or see it somtimes but that sends a spike 2 that fuse which then caused it 2 blow.

Nah lout the globe was fine, i know they're polarised and had it the right way/

Yeah wrx i didnt see or hear anything, but thats what must've happened. Without thinking, i just thought light off means wire isnt live, forgot there was still current running through it. Just out of curiousity, i know i can go down to a wreckers yard or somewhere, but how much roughly will a new fuse be?

u may have some spare fuses in ur fuse compartment im pretty sure mine did or mayb im thinkin the VP does, but either way a pack of 5 fuses from repco would only b a couple bucks.

Nothing spare in the fuse compartment, but its a relief as i was expecting a single fuse to be way more, around the $50 mark. Maybe some things these days are still cheap

Thanks for your help everyone, just one last question: One of the LED's i put in was faulty, works fine now though (although my fuse is already blown!), if i get a new fuse, what are the chances of it blowing that one too?

after you replace that, go on ebay and buy a fuse set. i paid around 5-6 bucks for a box with 120 fuses, 20 of each main amps. good old flea bay

Its for the interior dome light, just wanted to put a green LED in there. What amperage should i be looking for? Im pretty sure it was 70mA.

    And i will, thanks matt

What if i had a few of them running at once? As long as i take the fuse out before installing the lights and then re-fit the fuse after, everything should be all sweet? Never heard of that rule before, woops

they will b fine also man chances r they will b running less power than the original globes anyway. really u shouldnt need 2 take out the fuse its only if the light has some sorter power 2 them (switched on) that they can do this. So just turn ur interior light 2 the off position.

Unfortunately i was doing the glovebox, centre console and boot too...so switching them off isnt an option.
Doesnt really matter, breaking the circuit by taking a fuse out isnt exactly hard work haha
