Hi hi.
I have a VT Commodore. Recently the drivers side window feel into the door as we were winding it (power windows). We opened it up to find that the little plastic bits that slide along had broken. After a quick search found they will be easily replaced and quite cheap to do as well. But upon closer inspection, my Husband found that the lift channel on the window (the one closer to the back of the car) had 'grinded' away a bit (his words). Even if we do replace the plastic bits they wont sit in the channel properly because of this. What I have been trying to find out is how are they attached to the window? Are they replaceable? Or do we require a whole replacement window?
Thanks.
I've got a VX wagon and have found similar. The plastic slide broke when I closed the door with the window slightly open yesterday:-( and the window stopped winding. Found it could drop down on it's own. Also gouged grooves in my new window tinting :-( So would be interested in hearing more from others. I found I wasn't impressed with the way the window wound up. Often had to do it in two goes. Close it, then slightly open it and close again always went further up. Only had the car for a couple of months. Has the winder bent, or is there a design flaw?
Cheers
Brett
According to my manual, the metal tracks can not be separated from the glass. I suggest you get one from the wreckers but check the condition before you buy it. I would say that the price from Holden would be astronomical as usual.
In your case Chameleon, you might just need new nylon runners. It's hard to say without seeing it.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I just replaced my drivers side window because of the same problem.
The track towards the door handle side had the plastic part broken off and the same gouging issue.
No hope of fixing the track so bought a new window from the wrecker for $49.
Was a bit if a pain to change over, and my regulator had fallen apart as well so had to fix that too but it only took about an hour.
