Default What do you think repairs will cost? Worth it?

My commodore got hit about a month ago and the image below is the result. Everything else in the car is fine besides the damage in the image, a nick on the door and the drivers window's tint slightly warped. New low profile tyres $1k, gear box and breaks with rego till sep 2012
It's a 97 VT acclaim what do you think the repair cost will be? Is it worth it or should i sell as is? If so then at what priceWhat do you think repairs will cost? Worth it?-img_0652.jpg

at a guess $3000 to $4000 at a panel shop assuming there is no suspension damage or damage to pillar
if no damage to pillar or suspension you should be able to do most of it yourself

Considering how high the damage is, the rail and inner guard is likely bent. The wheel is at an odd angle, so there is definately damage to the strut and surrounding control arms and bushes.

It'll never look the same again.

I'd say get another guard from the wreckers, zip tie the bumper back as well as you can and call it a day (and of course fix the suspension)
It would need an alignment at the very least, you'd have to check everything, Link pins, sway bar, shock strut, control arm.

Edit: Doing all this yourself, replacing everything with used parts, best case: a couple hundred, worst: a couple thousand)

aha nah, i got hit but I was at fault and made a dick move of canceling my comprehensive 3 weeks prior to the incident.

Do you think $1500 is a fair price if sold as is? Remember if the tyres are new, gearbox new and basically majority of the car's can be sold or used. Hell, it's still registered till sept lol

if you cancel the registration, you would get some $$ back from the RTA. Then you could part it out.

If you were going to sell it anyway just wreck it; cost of repair will exceed to vehicles added value. however if the rest of the car is in great shape and pre-crash you were planning on keeping it, it may be worth the extra couple of grand to get a repair done. See a bodyshop for a quote. Cost of buying a good replacement vehicle could exceed cost of repair; find out actual price of repair, and actual price of replacement vehicle (if required).

Close friend had a similar collision.Friday night (5pm-9.30pm)we dropped the K frame(support the engine from top)sat. morning got the second hand one from the wreckers(incl. struts, rack, rotors).lucky he was we found the same colour panels(white)guard,bonnet,b/bar,couple of tyres. We start 11am,by 6.30pm he was washing the car.Its not a hard job, providing you have all the necessary tools and a good compressor.Only thing we couldnt do,the front end alignement.Drives like nothing happened to it.Total cost was $875+paket of Winfield+3 pizza's+1/2 slab of corona.

No need to wreck a car for small damage like that. Then again, its your call.

All depends how much you love your car, if you're not fussed sell it for what you can then go buy another. You could give VT's away with Rice Bubbles and Cornflakes there's that many out there at the moment.
