vt auto transmission?

hey guys, been fixing all issues with my vt over the last week, now im on the auto and am stuck.
it realy lags when changing gears, taking off and anything.
i nutral bombed ones when i was rolling slow to take off when i first got it (bout 4 months ago) and it chirped and took off, was pretty good but knew i shouldnt do it so diddnt do it again.
over the last month or so its been super sh!t, out of curiosity last week i was rolling at about 40, chucked it in nuetral and gave it to about 2.5 k and put it back in drive, took about 4 seconds to go back into drive?

i went and bought oil and the filter for the auto , changed it and put it back together still the same. (wasnt expecting anything major)

what do i need to do? id prefer to do the stuff myself but will take it to a mech if i have to? what should i be looking at?

My Autos got a special thing called a torque converter so I don't need to chuck it in neutral to build up revs and slam it in drive. You should get something similar they seem to work quite well
