Cant exactly help on the tranny issue as you don't exactly give many details there.

Your having trouble with the tranny so your going to put a V8 in it? I going to take a stab in the dark and suggest that it wont fix the problem.
Converting to a V8 is not as simple as just dropping the engine in either.

and if you really need to ask which engine you should go with............... hhmmmmm Hemi 426 all the way!!!!!!

Just make sure the engine has a build date newer than your car or else you will never be able to register it...

Inb4OP needs to do his front shocks, transmission, radiator, alternator, distributor/electronic thingo, etc.

I'm gonna go with the guy above me, it'll be cheaper and easier.

This has been discussed sooo many times before. I think in all the other numerous threads, the common responses were:

    1) Sell the V6 and buy a V8; or
    2) Buy a V8 wreck and swap over everything.

Good luck. I might also suggest if you go the swap, don't keep your current gearbox!

For all the v6 haters... Let the bloke do what he wants!!!

As for the engine. Just drop a ls1 in there.. Buy it with the subframe t56 and whatever else you need

hey mate i did a v6 to v8 conversion on a wh its not that hard really and if you go the ls1 like i did it makes the car a lot better but as far as the conversion

    need to change
    suspension
    diff
    tail shaft
k frame (best to have a hoist but not needed i did it with out it)
dash cluster so it reads correct
all the electrics plug in but you will need to get the ecu and bcm matched cost me about $150 and id suggest getting a tune done at the same time
from memory the power steering racks were different

youre best bet is to buy a wreacked v8 vt/vx and swap evrey thing over.

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread, but im after some more info. on converting to the v8. I brought an unfinished project, motor, gearbox, ecu, and front cross member have been swapped over already from a vt berlina wagon into a vt l67 sedan. A few things im unsure on, do i need to swap the bcm as well or have it matched as frankenstein said, ive got the dash cluster so thats no prob, do i need to swap the diff as the one in the car already has an lsd 3.45 centre put in, its the original that came with the car, can i use the same tailshaft from the v6 or are they different, i do have the wagon one but i think there longer, also do i need to change the fuel tank/pump or will the tank/pump ive got be enough, i do have access to the wagons fuel tank/pump are the pumps the same on l67 and ls7, any info would be great, thanks TJ
