    Default Torque convertor/flexplate noise

    Hi Guys,

for a while now (slowly getting worse) my VT 98 (L67 super 6) makes a metallic clinking noise from the gearbox.

From what i can tell its coming from the torque convertor and or flex plate.

I've been under the car while its running on axel stands and im sure that its where the noise is originating.

    Here's the facts.

-The car makes the noise worse when the front of the car is elevated, and can make it on idle and at low speeds and RPM (normally not at high speeds)

-The car is fine under high rpm and road speed

-The Torque converter and gearbox are operating completely normal.

-In reverse up a steep hill there is no noise whatso ever.

-The car has a few KM on it.

I'm thinking the flex plate is cracked, has anyone else had a similar issue?

Patience grass hopper. Take it to a trans specialist and get them to drive it. I had a similar noise and torque converter bolts were loose.

Take the Starter motor out, get a light to shine onto the flex plate and turn the motor by hand until you see the torque converter bolts. There is 3, 16mm bolts. Try and tighten them up. It also helps if you can get someone to hold the motor while you try and tighten them so it doesn't turn.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!

Hrmm Could be the bolts i'm hoping that over a broken flex plate., I'm familiar with the torque convertor configuration, pulled enough auto's out in my time to never want to do it again.... atleast you can lift a manual box. :P
