what type and what brand of cam is the best for daily driving for my ls1
Choose any cam you want, Its all in the tune. My cousins senator has a pretty big cam, shaved heads, 4k stall, 4.11s makes 350rwkw. Drives it everyday without any issues. Ive driven it a fair few times and the only difference I find from stock is the SICK idle brrb brrb brrb lol and the car kinda rocks from side to side slightly.
Small cams are for pussies!!!
is it an ls1 if has he had troble with his rear main iv heard thay pop in the ls1 with pressure?
Just my 2c... BRANDS:- Comp CAMS, CRANE, ISKY, C.O.M.E(AUS), CROW, Camtech, Howards, Manley etc. etc. etc.... and the list goes on and on and on and on...
Camshafts are a very personal choice that should meet your driving style, daily or weekend driver, performance over economy/durability and coupled with all the other mods can produce huge increase in grunt.
No one will be able to give you a solid answer on your question without more details. It all comes down to what you want out of the car.
u have already got the 3.9s so you might as well use them to your advantage and go big and lumpy. Let the blue beast just scream
would be good but i wonna get a supercharger later one
thats easy just pick a cam that will also suit a supercharger .. i think with a supercharger you want more lift and less overlap (someone correct me if im wrong) ... ive got a .600" lift cam in my vx ss with 112deg sepperation it still sounds lumpy as f*ck and it will still be fine when i put a PD supercharger on it.
But with a real lumpy cam my fuel will go tho the roof wot does ur vx make??
310rwkw thats with cam 238/240 .605" 112deg (biggest lift i could fit, got less then 1mm clearance between valve and piston), oversized valves and heavly ported heads, VE 100mm maf intake... fuel consumption isnt as bad as i thought it would be i had a VP V6 when i was on my p's and it uses the same fuel as that thing haha
how much can you get of a tank i had a vp before this and i could only get 350 klms off a tank
thats the km's you'll probably get with a cam of that size.
If picking a cam for a SC look for more duration and lift on the exhaust side compared to the intake as the air will be forced into the intake and you want it to get it out as fast as possible
