Hello all,
Not sure when the battery in my VX was last changed. What is the lifespan for a car battery, generally? I have the one that you can add water to, as 6 screw taps along the top.
Between 2-4 years I'd say.
You will know when you need a new one lol cause you will be ringing your boss saying your going to be late... Well I had too lmao
id generally just wait till it dies
Hmm yeh lately I just notice that it goes flat quick quickly.
4 years is the average lifespan of a car battery. You can get it tested, but if mine was doing that, and I wasn't sure when it was last replaced, I would just get a new one and write the date on it when you fit it.

The battery in my VX SS is 6 years old and still seems ok, must admit I am expecting it to go soon, as soon as the slightest sign in will go a new one.
My daughter bought a brand new Mazda 3 in 2006 and that is still on its original battery. Both very different use patterns as well, the Mazda gets used daily the SS can sit for 2 to 3 weeks at times, it gets very little use. I think we are both running on borrowed time though probably jinxed my self now I have posted this.
Very well could be a dodgy alternator and nothing wrong with the battery.

The date should be on the post of ya battery as to Wen it was sold it is stamped into it so they can know wen warrenty is up. There could be a number of reasons for a flat battery just go to a battery shop they can test and tell you if its the battery or something else.
i change mind every year just to keep it fresh
The old man has a 2005 Mazda ute thats battery hasn't been changed ever.
each battery has a code engraved in it on a terminal or in the case, first digit is month in letters and last is year of manufacturer , they recommend change ever two years

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I've found you don't get much warning when the battery is on the way out (in my VY anyway). You have to be on the ball and as soon as you notice that it cranks even the slightest bit slower or differently...get a new one pronto.
You might get one or two starts after that but then it dies.
