hey guys,
just got a vt acclaim II auto v6 and so far the check power train light has come on twice, the first time i put my foot to the floor and the car was stuck in 3rd(i think) and was stuck at 2500 rpm! happend again today as i was going round a round about slowly and the light came on again! both times just by turning the car on and off the light would go away!
so just before i checked the faults codes, came up with the usual 12 then with fault code 19 (Throttle position sensor (sticking open)), could this be causing the problem?
thanks in advance!
okay so did some more intense searching and found that they could be related, but if anyone has anymore info please feel free to share! im stil an amateur so please no hate![]()
Replace the TPS. Cheap and easy to replace. However, before you do that, make sure that the inside of your throttle body is clean and allows the butterfly valve to close properly. If it't dirty, buy a spray can of throttle body and carby cleaner (around $10) and follow the instructions to clean the throttle body. If that doesn't fix it replace the TPS.
