    Default VX Berlina Cam Install

    Hi all,

Apologies if I'm blind and couldn't see a similar thread.

Looking at a cam install something like a 220/224 112 as it is a daily driver for the wife. With the dollar the way it is, I'm looking to purchase from the US - well probably a valve spring, locks and retainers kit at least. Already have the extractors etc and a CAI from SS inductions.

With a mild cam, will I need anything further? Tune? OTR? Also has anyone followed this path and if so, how much was your install cost?

    Cheers,

    Matt

g day mat, i just put a 522/537 590 in my 304, urs is only a baby bro honestly theres no point but thats just my oppinion, whats its rpm range from an to because u may be going back wards in acceleration without a stally, if your doin the work u will save alot but if ya dnt know how it,l cost twice as much to fix, buy AUS not US, get bolt on adjustale rockers off ebay prob cost 300 but will help power also, of course u will need a tune but due to bein such a smalll cam u should get away with a memcal an u can get that with the cam as an option, but with all ya mods nothing beats a dyno, price with out dyno oy labour prob about 800

the cam tune is around 1000 and a mafless if it hasnt got one and the gear from the us is around 1000 all up shipped to your door and if your doing all the work your self you might save a couple of hundred so you might not save heaps but just a thought

g day vic geez perth is expensive for cams, an the money saved without labour, ya take intake manifold off, then the rocker covers an heads witch u need to remove a couple of rockers to get to a couple of head bolts, timing case removed, harmonic balancer removed, timing sprocket an timing chain, cam lock plate, etc, an after u have removed the cam an replaced with the new 1 then u have to dial it in so the valves work in harmany, then scrape all the old gaskets off the create a smooth seal for new gaskets an put it all back togeather agian, mat u can buy a cam much cheaper then a grand if u shop around an do research, vics right about 1 thing but an that its computer mapped not chipped but these days remappin can be done cheap as 400, of course ya only get what u pay for but theres no point spendin a grand for a performance dyno on such a baby cam an tiny mods, not being rude vic, correct me if im wrong im always keen for knowledge.
