Hey guys,

I got a problem with my 1997 VT v6's engine. At first it was surging and skipping. It was skipping on idle and under heavy acceleration.

I first addressed the surging. Replaced fuel pump and bought a fuel filter from repco.
Surging stopped.

I bought brand new NGK leads and plugs and sprayed out the TB with TB cleaner hoping it would stop my skipping problem.

It no longer skips on idle but still under acceleration.

I'm young and confused. What could be the problem, and how could I fix this.

Cheers.

Checked over the intake? Like throttle body, gaskets ect. Maybe pull the plenum off, and clean the whole thing out. Only other thing I can think of Is fuel filter, fuel pump.

I don't think its the fuel system due to replacement yesterday,

Don't laugh/hate but what exactly Is the plenum.

General performance has improved after the replacements.

Skip's as in miss?
Vacuum leak?
Plug's, Lead's?

A more common place for vacuum leak's is under the throttle.
Vacuum line that run's over to the Canister purge solenoid.
Back of RH head.

Yeah miss.

I googled plenum and I know what is just didn't know its name.
thank you. I'll check the vacuum line tomorrow.

Also what's the most efficient and safest way to clean the plenum. Safe for the engine that is?

You guys are great help.

A bloke called 'Harmless Muffin Man' did a really good write up about cleaning the throttle body and plenum cover in the 'how to' section. Im on an ipod so I cant link it for you, but either have a quick squiz in there or someone may link it for you.

Its an awesome how to

Cheers
