Default removing bump strips n badges

hi all, after some hints if possible on how to remove the bump strips (the rubber bits on the doors) on a VT2. its not colour codded n looks shite..

ive taken off a little bit at the front and there some black silicone type crap on there thats stuck on like hell.

is there something that i can use to dissolve this stuff?

i figgured thinners would do it but i dont know if thatl reck the paint.

if its going to be risk il just go and get another bit to replace the bit i took off but i would rather take it all off as it would look heaps better.

Try eucalyptus oil, turps/metho and a shite load of elbow grease. Use a towel like material as it will help with the annoying small bits of glue. I did this with all the side strips and the badges. I used a bit of touch up paint for a couple of minor scratches it got when I ripped off the strips using a crowbar looking thing.
In the end it worked well!!

found another good idea... just wait till the hottest god damn day youve ever seen, give the bumper strips a bit of a pull and they come off nice and easy as does most of the nasty black goo.

Get a start on your strips and badges by using a flat screw driver with some soft cloth wrapped around it and the word "GENTLE"comes into play here....lol.
Once you start on them just gently keep lifting them until you have them off.
Use prepsol to dissolve the black crap thats left or turps.
    Then simply polish.
    Job done !!!!!
If you take your time and your gentle then you should not need touch up paint although if your doing older cars it might be a lot more difficult.
    Have fun.
