just recently i've noticed a knocking noise from the drivers side wheel. i rocked the steering wheel when the car was parked and off and it made the knocking noise. it somtimes does it when i turn. does anybody have any ideas on what it could be?
cheers
loose caliper?
wheel bearing?
maybe its your tierod joints.... ask a friend to move the steering wheel and you hold your hand on the tierod steering joint... if there's any free play, you should easy feel it..
I just had my brakes Done by repco yesterday and the knocking only started today so the calipers could be it. (did'nt even think of it).
Cheers
Wouldnt be surprised if something was left loose. Jack it up, remove the wheel & have a look. You dont want a brake failure this time of year.(anytime really)
i just checked out the calipers and thats not it. i aint the tierods, and it aint the bearing. so i gunna have to wait till next week to take it the mech
i came across this sort of scenario when i was workimg at holden and found that in many cases it turned out to be feeplay in the steering rack - esp if it happens when car still and turned off. you can adjust the freeplat in the rack pad itself but generally doesn't work most of the time. may possibly be up for new or change over steering rack to eliminate.
also check 1st to make sure kframe bolts are tight, rack bolts are tight, kframe to chassis braces both side are tight, sway bar bushes aren't flogged out or worn and castor rod bushes are ok.
hope this helps.
hey mate check the front sway bar link pin bushes.they are the ones that conect the strut to the sway bar..
turns out it was the sway bar bushes.
cheers guys
