Hi guys I need to replace my harmonic balancer on my vt v6. Problem is I have a new one but does not match my old one even tho it's for a vt. There is about 1cm difference with the new one. And I've done some research online and keep coming back with the same part numbers which won't fit mine. Any ideas?

see pictures

as you can see top picture is new one, bottom is old one, the blue plastic ring fits over both rings on new balancer, but only covers one on my old one.?

old one is 13cm across diameter and 12cm on new one.

Top one looks like a VN s1 with the blades closer together
The counter weight is different also so one of them definitely isn't for an ecotec.

Still not sure why you'd pull a new part apart that won't fit and void any warranty you had.

And for reference, VR v6, note the smaller counter weight for the buick but larger spacing in the blades to suit the newer cas that is still used on ecotecs

part number for new one is HB1434-N powerbond brand. I work at supercheap and this what it says for VS to VY commodores, even ebay says this is correct part for my car. So im at a lose

Well maybe you could ask them to put the same part numbers on their website.
"Powerbond SPO2605038" is the parts finder number... maybe someone decided to swap the balancers in the boxes.... but if you look at the pics above it's definitely not a VS-VY balancer

It certainly doesn't look like this https://www.sparesbox.com.au/harmonic-balancer-hb1434n-powerbond-106233-hb1434n
I'd get the image from the dayco website but they want me to create an account to do that.....

ok i see what you mean, makes sense, they must of labelled it wrong when i got it from work for like $20. I always thought it was for a vt. Never mind, thanks for your help. I did not pick up on the different counter weights

pardon my ignorance, but does it really make a difference? surely the blades/thin inner rings dont actually serve a purpose...theres no belt that runs on them is there, or is it some sort of pulse ring? and what is the blue ring for? if the O.D for the belt surface, and the I.D for the crank are the same...just bolt it on?

the blue ring is came with new one, it protects rings in transit, i was just using it to show the size difference. But rings work with crank angle sensor to determine rotataion. Rings move between crank fins and wont fit if wrong balancer is put on so i found out.
