Default carpet - repair or replace?

hello all, looking for some advice

My VX2 s pack's carpet has torn badly on the drivers side transmission hump where my wife and I put our feet when we get in or out. While I would love to try and claim a new one under our extended warranty I think that the dealer would just laugh at us

so I'm wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts or advice on replacing the carpet with a genuine item from GMH - should I try fitting myself or getting a trimmer to do it?

I also have quotes from one dealer who tell me it is a one piece item and another who tells me it's a one piece item plus an insert - what that all about.

    cheers

I've had two quotes from dealers - $380-$415 retail. The trimmer I spoke with quoted about $300 trade & about $100-$150 to fit.
