Alarm In Vx S

Hey There Yesterday My Vx Was Locked With The Window Down In The Back Yard Not Thinking I Reached In And Put The Key In The Ignition Didn,t Turn It On But Popped The Bonnet When I Did This The Horn Bipped Once And The Indicators Started To Flash What I,m Asking Is I Don,t Know If This Car Has An Alarm Or Not I Wasn,t Told What Are Your Opinions

Pretty sure the series 2s came out with factory alarm fitted. Mine does. . . .

Well, as far as i know, our vs berlina has a factory alarm (not an option, std feature). Basically, when the car is unlocked without the remote, and you open the bonnet or door the horn will begin to sound with the indicators flashing. The horn starts off first with short beeps, then progressively get longer and longer (also sounding louder too).

I know the vx also has the same one too....

I am a bit confused from redbook. I looked at the diff between series I and II VX S models (I don't know which mine is - me thinks Series I) on redbook, and it says the vin numbers will be ..... 68A1L.... for SII and ..... 68AYL ..... for series 1. I just checked and my car is ..... 69A1L .....!!!! Does this mean it is a series 2?? but it also says series 2 has 6 speakers and i think?? mine only has 4.

yep sounds like it's got an alarm. i don't know whether my vx s is a series 1 or 2 so i checked the alarm thing like you did, and nothing happened - i guess i might have a S1?

hmm but it says the series 2 has a multi-function steering wheel. does this just mean the audio controlls on the wheel?? cos mine has that.

I had a vx acclaim series 1 and it had the audio controls on the steering wheel.

mine ride is November 2000 VX V6, it has steering wheel audio controls and cruise control...... NO alarm but i had a look and all the wiring is there for the horn or chirper cos it doesnt make any sound when i lock or unlock it... not sure about alarm, i'll try it tomorrow..
