hey ive got to change the diff oil in my vt does anyone know how to take it out and where to put the new oil in?
Never changed commodore diff oil, but a few other cars. There should be a couple of plugs in the actual diff case/housing, whatever you call it. Have a look, one fills the other drains.Originally Posted by oliver
that should be right vs utes have a fill and drain hole my vp only has fill hole
Yep.. Undo the drain plug and then pump the new oil in the filler plug.. I'm pretty sure you need an oil pump though..Originally Posted by vtdemon
No harm changing the diff oil as it gets old with time
thanks boys
It certainly does get OLD with TIME.Originally Posted by Italian Stallion
well you can just undo a few of the bottom bolts and it should start to drain out, when its stopped dripping do them up again, take out the bung with probably a qtr drive and put the new oil into it, the oil level should be up to the level of the bung, so its will leak out but not pure out, just level with it... make sure the car is level while doing it.
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
worst thing for diff oil is water... when driving the diff gets fairly warm, then if you will acroos a floodway with like 1 foot of water, your diffs cools... causes a vacum and sucks water in through the diff housing air breather.... can suck water in through the wheel bearing seals too...
