Hey im looking at a vx calais 2002 with 34 000 kays on it. i was looking for a standard v6 but this one has come up and its supercharged. im not asking in a performace point of view i just wanna know if the supercharged engines have and problems cause i know the standard v6's are a very reliable engine and i dont wanna settle for a supercharged 1 if there dodgy.
cheers

I'm with Cuckoo. The supercharged version is a stronger and more reliable version of the standard ecotech V6. Go for it if you are able. You will not regret it.

I don't own the S/C version, but from all reports they are surprisingly quick for a stockie with a low 5-6psi of boost, just don't forget the fuel issue, as it must have PULP 98 as minimum, if you can afford the ongoing fuel costs, then go for it!![]()
I own one. No problems at all, great car to own. I bought mine last year with 30k kms and now has 50k kms. Make sure you get it serviced regularly, and there wont be any problems. You only have to put 98RON in it if you modify the engine.
my xu6 has a sticker on the fuel cap door saying premium unleaded recomended,so i use it all the time, now not starting arguments but i did run it on normal stuff once and it pinged, was less reactive, used 95 better but still not as good as 98, wat do you run yours on?Originally Posted by VX_Calais_Sv6
The sticker on the fuel door actually refers to 95RON premium as that was the only 'Premium' fuel available at the time when the VS-VT L67 fitted Commodores were released. 95RON is fine for stock L67's but as soon as they are modded with boost upgrades you should seriously only use 98RON PULP.
I have run mine on regular ULP when I've been somewhere that didn't have 95 or 98 available back in late 90's...I simply had no choice!!! But it never pinged, but I probably didn't push it hard either, plus it was still stock back then. I strictly use 98 PULP now and would never dream of using anything else...but of course it's not stock now either![]()

I only run 98RON but mines modded. Actually on the JC cruise I was running very low on fuel so I put some standard fuel in my car. It was a hot day and I was hammering my car everywhere. Didn’t notice any pinging at all. I suppose it depends on the carOriginally Posted by Charg'd

Nice, very nice, looks in great condition, the cream leather adds a degree of oppulence and is quite a rare feature.
Enjoy !!
