Hey all,
I own a VX S2 Executive and am (slowly) learning how to do up a car bit by bit as i am a person who knows little about cars. i had it lowered 2" by someone who also changed my brake pads and disks at the same time.
PROBLEM 1 - my brakes have started to squeel again even after the brakes and disks being replaced....![]()
PROBLEM 2 - since i have lowered it i have noticed something strange about when im comming to a stop, it feels like the car "slips" foreward on the front, this happens when coming to a dead stop!.
now the questions i have are
could it be the bushes? could it be my shocks? or something more???![]()
as i am still learning all the help i can get would be great, i joined up here as finding out that so many people have intresting things to share is great, so eh, thought id ask a question
hope someone can shed some light on my problem... and any others that may arise

first, why was your disks replaced ??... squealing is usually caused by using hard long lasting brake pads or dust.... people who dont like the squealing noise usually go to repco, auto barn, supacheap, asn ask for softer compound brake pads cos they dont squeal...
Problem 1 sounds like glazed brake rotors causing the noise
Problem 2 Did you get new front shock struts or used the stock ones and been lowered 2" its recommended to use short rear shockies to prevent bottoming out
shorter shocks on the rear stop the springs from falling out if you get airborne over a rise or humps....
disks were replaced due to them having large heat spots (dont know the term he used) and he replaced them with dba standard ones i suppose with frodo pads.
with the lowering it was basically dumpin it on 2" springs thats it, no change to the suspension... think i might have to get some koni adjustables or soemthing dunno!...
hopefully some more light could be shed???
i think heat spots are called scallops or oysters..... usually caused by hard braking. But for the squealling... far as i know only soft compound brake pads will cure but don't last as long as hard compound pads cause hard compund pads i kow used to have chips of metal in the compound to make them last a long time...
the squeling noise is created from a vibration between the pad and the pad holding part of the caliper.
On a VT you will have little pressed tin clips that the pads sit against, if you clean these clips well and buy some anti squeal glue from repco or supercheap and glue them in it will go along way to stopping the squeal, also take the pads out again and put a fine line of glue around the caliper piston it will help aswell
isnt glueing gonna cause probs when it comes time to replace the pads again??... my pads arent glued so why dont they squel??
children!!!.... cars are funny things!. :b:
i will have a look, have to pull my rims off to check my disks anyway so i will have a look and give it a try...
does anyone know the model number and a price "roughly" on a set of koni or proper shocks for lowering???.... thought of baggin my car but for $6000 for a system that makes your car go up and down i thought it was a bit rough!...
if anyone needs some help with stuff to do with the dash im pretty good at that!> had to pull my dash out a couple of times to change lights and had some tips from the fellas at holden so its down to a "fine" art now! ha ha ha.![]()
anyhooo!!!!..... think its time to get to doin some work before the boss finds out im stuffin about ha ha ha..
have a good day all hope to hear again soon...

the slipping could be from your "radius rod to chassis bush" the origional ones are filled with hydrollic fluid and are prone to failure. try getting whiteline or nolathane type put in, they arent cheep but i noticed a nice improvement.
